Limón Technique

Tuesdays: 10:00AM - 11:30am

NEW* THURSDAYS: 1:30PM - 3:00PM

Intermediate / Advanced Level Limón Technique

The Limón technique values the inherent expressiveness of the human body and encourages dancers to use their breath to facilitate and partner with one’s movement. The technique emphasizes the importance of weight, fall, and recovery in creating a sense of groundedness through an ongoing awareness of our relationship with gravity. It also encourages dancers to use opposition within the body to create a sense of dynamism and tension. By embracing the principles of the Limón technique, we can tap into a deeper sense of presence and connection, using movement to express the inevitability of our constant cycle: death and rebirth.

Contemporary Dance Theatre

Tuesdays: 7:30PM - 9:00pm

Advanced-Beginner Contemporary Dance Theatre

Contemporary Dance Theatre brings to life the stories hidden within the human body through a combination of physical expression, musicality, nuance, and gesture. It aims to develop a personal and unique style through a focus on presence and listening, and encourages the creation of a personal movement language by exploring the kinesthetic landscape and textures of movement. The emphasis is on organic expression, where the experience of movement drives the artistic expression. The practice will also allow for the exploration of fantastical movements and encourages breaking the structure of traditional phrasing to develop a distinct sense of style. Participants will grow skills in improvisation, performance techniques, contemporary floorwork, and phrasework.
